Prof. Giorgio Andrian is an expert in environmental sciences and EU project design, based in Padua, Italy. Born on August 13, 1966, he holds a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Freiburg and a Master’s in EU project design from the University of Padua. Additionally, he has advanced qualifications in environmental diplomacy from the University of Geneva.
He is a member of the Faculty of Peace and Diplomacy, the Head of Department of Environmental Diplomacy at Karamoja Peace and Technology University. With over two decades of experience, Prof. Andrian has designed and managed UNESCO and EU-funded projects in Europe and Africa, focusing on biosphere reserve nominations and UNESCO World Heritage site dossiers.
Since 2011, he has acted as an independent consultant on UNESCO site governance, including the nomination of Uganda’s Moroto Mountain as a Man & Biosphere Reserve. He lectures on heritage management, natural resource governance, and international relations at various universities in Italy, Germany, Serbia, Palestine, and Uganda.
He is fluent in Italian, English, French, and Spanish, with working knowledge of German and Serbian, and he is proficient in digital research tools. Outside of academia, he enjoys organising scientific events and participating in cycling, skiing, sailing, and horse riding.
